Unusual Uses for Peanut Butter

Think peanut butter is just for human consumption? Well, think again.

Among the many ingenious uses for PB is as a bird feeder-- first, roll a pine cone or other globular object in peanut butter, and then roll the sticky result in seeds or suet. Keep squirrels away.

Mice love peanut butter. You can either feed the mice (which we doubt), or catch them. Our local mice are very attracted to the PB that we use to bait our Have-A-Heart trap. Here's an easy-to-make "no-kill" trap, found on instructables.com.

We've heard (anecdotally) of peanut butter being used to get bubble gum out of hair.

Here's a very creative use for peanut butter from eHow.com-- edible playdough!

Dogs love peanut butter. Is there a better example than this fine product-- the peanut butter-scented Crazy Dog Catch-A-Bubble from handsnpaws.com. And here's an idea for a simple homemade dog toy: cut open an old tennis ball (it's easier along the seams) and squeeze a butter knife covered with peanut butter through the hole. Coat the inside of the ball, twist it closed, and watch your pit bull have a ball. Put it in the freezer to cool your pet on a hot day. For ferret-lovers, here's a fruit & peanut butter treat. From ferret.com.

In general, pets love peanut butter, so hide their medications in peanut butter and avoid painful, messy attempts to give pills to your animals, especially the ones with teeth and claws.
